LEONA ELLEN MACDONALD

PRINCIPAL INSTRUCTOR Qualified in Dec 1987 With almost 30 years experience of teaching dance to pupils of all ages now specialising in teaching Highland via the BATD, SDTA and UKA syllabi (an awarding organisation validated by the Council for Dance Education and Training - CDET) from Pre-School levels to Professional standard. Leona is an SOBHD adjudicator as well as a BATD examiner, Currently Chairperson of the BATD SN Region, previously Vice Chairperson of the BATD SE & N Region. She regularly is requested to conduct workshops for teachers and pupils and has lectured for The BATD SE & N Region, BATD Junior Highland Forum, UKA Mini Conference. Travelling extensively across Scotland and attending many meetings and lectures she continues to improve her skills by attending many recognised lectures to ensure she is professionally fully up to date. Several students have gone on to study dance full-time while others have opted to continue their training within the school studying part-time, and many have successfully qualified as teachers. Since studying Ballet and Tap with Leona, Louise Nelson has trained dancers to the highest standards by providing Ballet, Tap and Musical Theatre classes. www.louisenelsondancers.co.uk Leona is the Convenor for Le-Ellen Festivals and the City of Inverness Championships which are events held regularly to promote Highland Dancing in the Highlands.
